About Us

What is Anari?

Anari is an independent solutions and services company based in the UK, which specialises in taking operational data and using it to deliver real business value. We are both a business intelligence consultancy, and a software development company.

We have worked with many large businesses, both public and private, a lot of them in the travel and transport sector. We carry out bespoke projects using our expertise, and have also developed our own suite of software solutions for airlines which address high-value challenges such as Revenue Integrity and Passenger Profiling.

You should also know that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Read on and you’ll find out more about us.

What is the Anari history?

Anari was founded in late 2006 by Andy Wolstenholme and Nigel Dowden, both of whom brought with them a fair bit of expertise with business intelligence and travel companies, especially airlines. The company has grown in staff numbers, turnover and customers every year since.

If you put ‘Anari’ into Google or Wikipedia you’ll find a few interesting references including:

  • A Hindi-language film made in 1959 starring Raj Kapoor (one of the original Bollywood heart-throbs)
  • The stage-name of Basque singer Ana Rita Alberdi (who’s renowned for her creative use of lyrics)
  • The name of a fresh, mild Cypriot cheese (which apparently tastes very good toasted inside pitta-bread)

Our business name ‘Anari’ was not inspired by any of these – instead it came from combining two things. Firstly our founders’ initials (Andy and Nigel) and secondly our very first customer project, which was to help Aeroflot define their Airline Revenue Integrity organisation and solution.

For those of you that speak Hindi, we had no idea in the beginning that Anari means ‘an innocent man’ or ‘simple person’. That has caused much amusement in our business dealings since – and we kind of like it!

What are our core values?

In terms of ‘character’ we have three core values that are at the heart of everything we do:

  • Trust – we trust our employees; and seek to become trusted advisors to our customers
  • Value – we value our employees; and aim to deliver solutions which generate real business value
  • Expertise – we believe in our expertise; and look to use it to the best effect in our customer engagements

Our management team

Andy and Nigel are the co-founders and owners of Anari. They are both business intelligence and airline professionals, having over 35 years of experience between then. Andy is married, has three children and lives in Cheshire. Nigel is married, has two children and lives in Norfolk. Neither are good sailors!

  • Andy Wolstenholme
    Technical Director
  • Nigel Dowden
    Commercial Director

Andy and Nigel are ably assisted by their Senior Management Team comprising four highly skilled professionals, Sharon, Geoff, Andrew and Dan.

  • Andrew Fletcher

    Operations Manager

Andrew has been with Anari from its inception and is a much trusted and experienced IT consultant who looks after the day to day operations, for our software and managed services customers. When not in the office or on customers sites, he is our resident fitness guru, and can be found running up hill, down dale, in all weathers. Andrew competes in marathons, and has graduated to ‘Ultra’ running, which is normally >50 miles in one go!

  • Geoff Osbaldestin

    Development Manager

Geoff is our Development Team Manager. He manages a team of 8 developers and advises on technical aspects of all projects. He has more than 20 years’ experience within IT, working both in technical and development roles. Outside of work Geoff enjoys eating good food, drinking Italian red wine and then working it all off by running the lanes and footpaths of East Cheshire. He has also been known to do occasional male modelling.

  • Daniel Gaze

    Lead Consultant

Daniel (or Dan to his friends) is our lead consultant and works closely with our customers to analyse, understand and implement their solution requirements. He has developed a strange interest in pot-holes and drainage whilst working with the Highways Agency, and in frozen vodka since working with Aeroflot. He enjoys all things movie-related, and in his spare time designs alternative movie posters for fun, competitions and the occasional short film.

  • Sharon Rendell

    Customer Support

Sharon is Customer Support & Education Team Leader and has over twenty years’ experience in customer service.  She enjoys the occasional 21 mile walk and is a ‘fair weather runner’.  She has used a number of excuses not to run with the Anari running team during lunch-times, however the excuses ran out and a 3 mile run was completed!

Why choose Anari?

We are genuinely passionate about what we do, and we care about delivering successful solutions which that deliver real value for our customers.

What makes us different is our people, their expertise and dedication, and our flexibility.

We are large enough to be investing in improving our skills, developing new solutions, and building a high-speed SaaS platform. But we are still small enough to be nimble both commercially and technically. If you need particular features or functions, we will apply our expertise to helping you define the solution options, and whittle it down to something that works for both you and for us. We listen. We understand. We solve problems. We deliver.
